What is the Solar Panel Scheme?
The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has launched the “Roshan Gharana Solar Panel Scheme 2025”. This scheme aims to relieve the low-income households of the province from the energy crisis and provide them with modern, environment-friendly alternative sources of electricity. Under the scheme, eligible households will be provided with free solar panels, batteries, inverters, and other essential equipment.

The main objective of the Solar Panel Scheme is to provide a permanent solution to the citizens who are worried about high electricity bills. Eligibility Criteria for Solar Panel Scheme 2025
The following conditions must be met to benefit from the Maryam Nawaz Solar Panel scheme:
- The applicant must be a resident of Punjab.
- The applicant’s monthly electricity consumption must be 200 units or less.
- CNIC is mandatory.
- Name and address must be visible on the electricity bill.
- The applicant must be the owner or legal tenant of the house or flat.
What Will Be Given
The items that will be provided free of cost by the Punjab government under the scheme are as follows:
- 2 solar panels (high quality)
- Battery
- Inverter
- Complete wiring and installation equipment

Total Cost of the Solar Panel Scheme Project and Subsidy
The Punjab government has initially allocated Rs 12.6 billion for this project.
Under this amount, in the first phase, complete solar systems will be provided free of cost to 50,000 households consuming less units.
The average cost of the solar kit given to each household is about Rs 2.5 lakh, which will be fully paid by the government. That is, every eligible household will be given 100% subsidy and they will not have to pay any money.
Application Process of Solar Panel Scheme 2025
The Punjab government has made the application process easy and transparent. There are two ways to apply:
1. Online Application Method:
- Go to: https://cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk.
- Click on the “Register” button.
- Provide the following information in the form:
- Name
- Mobile Number
- CNIC Number
- Password and Verification
- CAPTCHA Code
- Log in after completing the registration.
- Enter the electricity bill reference number.
- Check the information, accept the terms and conditions, and submit the application.
2. How to Apply via SMS:
- Write your electricity bill reference number and CNIC number in one SMS.
- Format: Reference Number CNIC
- Example: 1234567890123 3520212345678
- Send this SMS to 8800.

After-Application Stage
After applying, the government will verify whether the applicant is indeed eligible or not. After verification, the candidates will be selected for the scheme, and the installation of solar systems will be started at their homes.
